Understanding the pivotal roles of ACE2 in SARS-CoV-2 infection: from structure/function to therapeutic implication

چکیده
Abstract In December 2019, a novel respiratory tract infection, from severe acute syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), was detected in China that rapidly spread around the world. This virus possesses spike (S) glycoproteins on surface of mature virions, like other members coronaviridae. The S glycoprotein is crucial viral protein for binding, fusion, and entry into target cells. Binding receptor-binding domain (RBD) to angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE 2), cell-surface receptor, mediates cells; thus, understanding basics ACE2 protein, their interactions, targeting could be potent priority inhibition infection. review presents current knowledge SARS-CoV-2 mechanism, structure organ distribution ACE2, also its function pathogenesis. Furthermore, it highlights by recombinant (rACE2), activators, ACE inhibitor, angiotensin II (Ang II) receptor blocker control

The pivotal link between ACE2 deficiency and SARS-CoV-2 infection
Angiotensin converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) receptors mediate the entry into the cell of three strains of coronavirus: SARS-CoV, NL63 and SARS-CoV-2. ACE2 receptors are ubiquitous and widely expressed in the heart, vessels, gut, lung (particularly in type2 pneumocytes and macrophages), kidney, testisand brain. ACE2 is mostly bound to cell membranes and only scarcely present in the circulation in a s...
متن کاملSARS-CoV-2 infection: its psychiatric manifestations
Background: The clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 infection was initially dominated by respiratory symptoms. However the clinical spectrum is wide and neuropsychiatric syndromes are also a source of medical concern. Our aims are to present an atypical clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 infection characterized by auditory hallucinations and unusual behavior and to emphasize the diversity of ...
متن کاملThe Comparison of Susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 Infection between Pediatric and Adults
SARS-CoV-2 causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and is responsible for the recent pandemic in the world. It has been recently recognized as a challenge for public health and a significant cause of severe illness in all age groups. Young children and older people are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, children usually present mild symptoms compared to adult patients. The relatio...
متن کاملWhole-inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines: from fear to hope
Undoubtedly, vaccination can be one of the promising approaches to control infectious diseases such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Inactivated viral vaccines have a history of "vaccine-induced enhanced disease", which may occur when neutralizing antibodies bind to viral antigens without blocking or clearing the infection. This can cause additional inflammation through the mechanisms described for ot...
متن کاملWhat We Know of the Prognostic Value of Lymphopenia in SARS-CoV-2 Infection
Background: Although by comparing the number of deaths to the total number of cases one may conclude that most of the infected cases are recovering, taking a look at the increasing statistics of deaths shows that SARS-CoV-2 continues to take its toll. Since lymphocytes are the main immune cells battling with rapidly evolving viruses, it comes as no surprise to assume that a decreased number of ...
